the old berkeley hospital on hwy 6 in Moncks Corner. This event will be hosted
by the American Legion Post 636. Immediately following the event, free
hamburgers/hot dogs and chips to all who wish to come will be served at VFW Post
9509. Please come join us at this event to honor those who have served and died
for our country in battle.
Happy hour at our post has changed to Monday through Friday from
4 to 6pm, no happy hour Saturday. Sunday happy hour is limited to those who are
life members.
Our post has again won the national community service award
for 2017-2018. We could not have won this award without the help of you "the
members” who volunteer their time to serve in the community. When you do
volunteer in the community please take the time and annotate those times and
dates in our community service book located near the cash register in the
canteen. Congratulations and thank you to all who worked to make this happen.
Please check out our web page vfw9509.org, and our facebook
page. These pages are updated regularly to inform and remind you of the events
that occur at our Post.
As most of you may know our long-standing bartender Lisa Hancock
is out due to health problems and will be out for a few months. The post has
established a donation jar to help Lisa during this period. Please make
donations to help Lisa, financially, during this extremely difficult period for
her. If you are unable to do so in person you can mail a check to the post and
we will ensure that she receives it. Please keep Lisa in your thoughts and
prayers during this difficult time
Finally, thank each one of you for your support and
comradeship during my tenure as your Commander, we accomplished a lot and we
couldn’t have done it without the many volunteers who make Post 9509 what it
is. I wish all of you the best and hope that our paths cross again.
Yours in comradeship
Rick Turner
